indian retail scenario

India with its amazing amalgamation of various culture, religion wherein to find the exact origin of Indian people is yet being researched is slowly creating its own niche  in the Global Economy  .
 Though Retail in India is still at a nascent stage compared to other countries, but due to the vast population and urbanism  companies from other industries are entering the retail sector for its amazing potentiality. One of the pioneers of retail “Shoppers Stop” backed by the Raheja Group was the first few to gauge the potentiality and venture in an unknown territory. From being a single brand store to becoming a fashion & lifestyle store Shopper’s Stop indeed created a new sector in India. Their achievement   opened doors to numerous other players, backed by large groups  or companies who were treading into the retail sector the first time.
In the beginning due to the cosmopolitan environment and spending capacity , retail companies market focus  were the metros (Mumbai, Delhi,  Chennai, Kolkata ) which helped them establish their brands in India . But today the scenario has definitely changed. The spending power in mini-metros, morphosils  has gone up tremendously , all major brands have expanded in cities like Aurangabad , Chandigarh, Nagpur , Cochin, Trivandrum etc .  With a growing demand for better products, better price, better availability and A Great Shopping Experience  there has been a  rapid growth of departmental stores, supermarkets, hypermarkets. Today we can see that India is moving towards a Modernized Indian retail Sector.
